Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished and is not being evaluated by another journal. Otherwise, you must write a justification on “Comments for the Editor”.

  • All the norms for publication must be thoroughly respected under the penalty of refusal of your contribution. The authors will be contacted to explain eventual faults. The Revista Científica da Faculdade Unimed has the right to perform corrections, adaptations and modifications without consulting the authors.

  • The opinions expressed on the articles are of full responsibility of the author, who compromises to respect the ethical standards of the scientific research

  • The submission implies the transfer of copyrights from the first publication to the Revista Científica Faculdade Unimed without payment. The authors can negotiate separately additional deals for a non-exclusive version of the published work in the journal (as the placement in an institutional repository or publication in a book), with the due acknowledgement of the original publication in the Revista Científica Faculdade Unimed.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

To submit a manuscript to Revista Científica Faculdade Unimed you need to register at Portal de Periódicos Eletrônicos da Faculdade Unimed as Reader and Author, create a login and a password.

When submitting, you will need to inform: full name; institutional links or last professional role; the institution's city, state and country; academic titles (undergraduate, specialist, master’s degree, doctor degree), address, phone number, cellphone number and e-mail. You also need to inform how your name should appear in the publication and which e-mail can be published.

It must be sent in .doc or .docx. As the Revista Científica Faculdade Unimed adopts the double blind review system, the archive cannot have any authorship identification within the texts, on the footnotes and on the archive's properties.

The author must access the system, click on New Submission and fill in the information on the following five steps:

Step 1: Initiate submission. Mandatory to fill in: Journal section; Submission language; Submission checklist; Copyrights declaration; “Comments for the Editor” is optional.

Step 2: Transferring the manuscript in .doc or .docx: this version is for review, with all the graphs, charts and figures placed correctly on the text and without any information that can indicate authorship;

Step 3: Submission Metadata (Indexation). You should include all the data about the authors, the work's title and abstract, development agencies and the references cited on the text. Coauthors must be registered in the system too.

Step 4: Supplementary files. In this step, the complete manuscript in .doc or .docx must be sent: this version will contain all the data about authorship and filiation, beside the graphs, charts and figures on their final positions on the text.

In this step you must also send the graphs, charts and figures in distinct, open and editable archives, in Word or Excel, and numbered with Arabic numerals.

Step 5: Confirmation: here, the author must clink in “Finish submission”

To keep up with the submission's status, the author must access “Active submissions”.

The submission to Revista Científica Faculdade Unimed must be exclusive, which means the texts cannot be sent to other journals simultaneously.

The manuscripts must be unpublished, which means they cannot have been published before with the attribution of a DOI (Document Object Identifier), ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) or ISBN (International Standard Book Number).

Every work submitted to the Revista is analyzed in an antiplagiarism software before the evaluation. The objective of this proceeding is to identify plagiarism and self plagiarism. It is forbidden the inclusion of new authors after the article's approval. On the act of the submission, all the authors must be indicated.

The ideas and opinions expressed on published articles are of complete responsibility of its authors, not reflecting, necessarily, the journal's opinion.

The journal has the right to make, during the revision process, small corrections on the text, respecting the authors' style and opinion.

The copyrights of published articles belong to the Revista Científica Faculdade Unimed, which adopts the license Creative Commons BY-NC "Attribution-NonCommercial".

Rules for original's presentation

 

A complete scientific article must contain between 10 and 15 pages, including references and notes. Citations and quotes in the text must follow the format from Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas - ABNT. See the Faculdade Unimed Style and Format Guide. Click here.

 

The work must be on electronic form (doc or docx, files in PDF will not be accepted) with the following configuration: paper A4, portrait orientation, font Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5, paragraph spacing 1.5, justified, excepting the title. The pages must be numbered on the footer's right, using Arabic algorism.

Title

  • Title, abstract and keywords from Brazilian authors must come in Portuguese and English;
  • Title, abstract and keywords from foreign authors must come on the original language and English, the journal is responsible for the translation to Portuguese.

 

Identification

The authors’ name must appear under the title, with 1.5 line spacing. The authors must also send the following information:

  • Academic data related to institutional bonds, roles, academic titles and main publications;
  • Professional history;
  • Mail address, telephone and e-mail (the e-mail will be published). The text containing the information of all the authors must not exceed 1,000 words

Format

  • The text must be in Word, font Times New Roman, size 12;
  • Line spacing: 1.5; Paragraph spacing: 2.0;
  • Margins: 3cm.

Text elements

Abstract: It must contain brief information about the object of study, methodology, results and conclusions in a continuous and dissertative form, using only one paragraph. The abstract format is: font Times New Roman, size 10, line spacing 1.0.

Keywords: They should not appear on the title. They must come under the abstract and have between 3 and 5 words for indexation, justified alignment, separated by dot and followed by initial upper case.

Abstract in foreign language: the same format of the abstract in Portuguese.

Introduction: It must be brief and, in a very clear way, justify the study. The work’s objectives have to be acquainted here.

Methodology: The methodology must be detailed in order to make it possible to replicate the results. On the other hand, you should avoid an extremely technical language and introduce the methodology clearly, so even a non-specialized reader will be able to understand it. This recommendation can be followed by taking actions like these:

  • Give details about experimental units and sample proceedings;
  • Describe and/or give access to the instruments used during the research;
  • Indicate all the descriptive and inferential techniques employed, providing bibliographical references whenever it is needed;
  • Present quantitative results;
  • Adopt a standardized level of precision on the display of data and results;
  • Use resources as graphs and charts whenever these elements can make the organization and synthesis of the data simpler and the comprehension of the results easier;
  • Discuss the results' reasonableness and report eventual methodological limitations;
  • Define the technical terms, mathematical symbols and abbreviations;
  • Specify the statistics software used.

Charts and figures:

  • Figures must come in distinct archives, numbered, subtitled and with the references (if it is not original). You should indicate its place in the text.
  • Other elements, as simple frames, graphs, charts, organizational charts, diagrams and flowcharts will be redesigned and adapted to the graphic patterns of Revista Científica Faculdade Unimed.

Conclusions:

The conclusions or final considerations should be written with verbs on the present. It should consider the explicit objectives and the obtained results indicated on the Expanded Abstract.

References:

The references must contain only the authors and works mentioned on the text, according to ABNT norms.

Evaluation:

The originals submitted will be analyzed by two members from the Scientific Committee in order to reach a decision about the publication of the article based on criteria including quality, methodology and adequation to the objectives and format explicit in this norm. Two positive decisions validate the text for publication, two negatives invalidate it. One positive decision and one negative decision lead to a third evaluator who will give the final decision. The evaluators are chosen according their research line and the subject developed by the author. All the authors will receive detailed information about the evaluation process of their texts, that can be accept, accept with corrections (changes or complementation) or refused.

Texts presenting a critical synthesis regarding insights related to a specific subject containing an analysis, interpretation and bibliographical discussion.

Relatos de experiências/caso

Reports about professional experiences and case studies followed by a brief comment useful for the interlocution with other professionals from the field.

Resenhas

Works made by specialists on the discussed field in which there is an analysis about scientific productions or subjects discussed in another work.

Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (TCC), dissertação e tese

A short presentation informing the objectives, methodology, results and final considerations/conclusions from a monography, essay or thesis, in order to help the reader to decide to read or not the full text. The journal can also publish annals with abstracts from works presented in scientific events.

Relatórios de reuniões ou Oficinas de Trabalho e de Pesquisa

Texts discussing relevant subjects about the journal’s fields containing final considerations/conclusions and recommendations.Other genres can be accepted as long as they are approved by the journal’s Editorial Committee.
