Abstract
The thinking and results of research in the health sector are important in overcoming challenges in a sustainable way. The processes of evaluation of the incorporation of new technologies and the management of human resources are challenges in health management in several countries. These constructs and their respective management processes are directly related to efficiency and quality in a health system, including hospitals, which play an important role in the system itself. The objective of the research was to investigate the articulation between innovation and competence and its contributions to the performance and health supply of hospitals in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte - RMBH. The hospitals selected for the research are linked to the GEPRHAS - Study Group in Human Resources Policy in the Health Area, whose members are the main hospitals of the RMBH. The work is characterized as a quantitative type of research, with the generation of primary data by questionnaires applied to the GEPRHAS hospitals. It was necessary to elucidate elements of the organizational structure, the human resources management model and the mechanisms that enable the innovation process in the organization. It is concluded that the practices of human resources management in the hospitals studied are formalized and consolidated, but the practices of innovation are not yet institutionalized, however, there is a perception that impact the performance of the hospital in the health supply.
