Spatial analysis of childhood tuberculosis in a municipality in the Brazilian Amazon
Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is a major problem faced by public health, especially in children due to the difficulty in diagnosis. This study aimed to analyze the profile and spatial distribution of TB in children and adolescents in Porto Velho-RO, from 2010 to 2017. Ecological study, with a quantitative approach carried out from the survey of variables in SINAN referring to TB cases, with age equal to or less than 19 years, and subsequently analyzed in a descriptive and spatial way, after meeting the ethical precepts. TB cases in children whose outcome was TB abandonment and death were concentrated in the south of the city, a notification made at the tertiary referral service, which remained as a treatment unit, as well as in PHC and specialized service. Among the adolescents, only abandonment was identified, distributed in the municipality, notifications made mostly in the reference service and treatment only with the inclusion of the Specialized Service. In view of these findings, it is necessary to adopt strategies, better articulation and communication between health services, in addition to greater PHC resolution.
