PATIENT READMISSION PERCENTAGE IN THE HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT AS A PARAMETER OF THE QUALITY OF CARE
Abstract
Indicators are used to improve the management of health services by providing information for decision making. The objective of this work is to recognize, through bibliographic review and analysis of dissertations and theses, how the percentage of hospital readmission can impact the management of hospital beds, to know the most prevalent causes for hospital (re) hospitalization and to highlight the importance of transition of care and action planning to eliminate / minimize the causes of rehospitalization, highlighting the importance of the losses generated by them, in addition to their impact on health systems considering organizational, economic and social aspects. It is concluded that, in spite of methodological differences that can cause difficulty in its implementation, the percentage of hospital readmission serves as a
basis for the study of several actions aimed at improving the quality of care.
