Abstract

Brazil has been consistently expanding its relevance in the global clinical research landscape, relying on strategic factors to support this growth. Among them, population diversity stands out, offering opportunities for studies across different ethnic groups and epidemiological profiles, as well as the robustness of the national healthcare system, which is capable of sustaining large-scale initiatives. Added to this is the enactment of Law 14.874/2024, which strengthened the regulatory framework and brought greater legal certainty and agility to processes, making the country more attractive for investments and international collaborations. In this context, Unimed recognizes clinical research as a fundamental differentiator for aligning science, innovation, and healthcare delivery. To organize and strengthen this movement, the National Center for Clinical Research and Technology (CNPCT) was created, with the mission of structuring centers of excellence, building a national research network, and fostering integration among different hubs. The program implemented by CNPCT covers the entire spectrum, from the initial training of emerging groups to the consolidation of mature centers, prioritizing professional development, infrastructure expansion, regulatory support, and qualification for conducting multicenter studies. Furthermore, strategic partnerships with CROs, the pharmaceutical industry, universities, and funding agencies have broadened cooperation opportunities. Since 2024, collaboration with Science Valley has been decisive in capturing feasibilities and attracting both national and international study protocols. In this way, the Unimed System positions itself as a clinical research ecosystem in Brazil and South America, consolidating its image of innovation, scientific credibility, and commitment to quality healthcare.
