CONTRIBUTION OF DATA CONTAINED IN MEDICAL RECORDS AIMING AT THE CONSTRUCTION OF INDICATORS OF OUTCOME PREDICTION IN THE HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS OF PATIENTS
Abstract
Evaluating the care system quality through the using of indicators is a reality within the concept of good hospital administration and, therefore, a goal to be achieved for the implementation of good practice in the management of hospital services. In this work, we want to focus on the best use of already known indicators and the possibility of building new ones based on the data contained in hospital records, which aim at better managing the patient's course in their intra-hospital journey, with an emphasis on anticipation and / or prevention of complications and consequent reduction in mortality in the nosocomial phase. To achieve this goal, we search the literature, through bibliographic review and analysis of dissertations and theses, as the construction of indicators and their use for analysis of the hospital course of several pathologies, can provide fundamental knowledge for the clinical management of the evolution of patients hospitalized. In conclusion, we propose a series of other data contained in the medical records and which, in our view, has the potential to integrate new care indicators and that together with the systematic analysis of those already traditional can actually be used as indicators of severity and performance during evolution of the patient's in-hospital course.
