INTEGRAÇÃO DE ASSISTÊNCIA E PESQUISA NO SISTEMA UNIMED
A ATUAÇÃO DO CEP COMO GARANTIA DE ÉTICA E EXCELÊNCIA CIENTÍFICA
Abstract
Clinical research in Brazil is governed by a robust regulatory system, the CEP/CONEP System, which is aligned with international principles such as autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice. In this context, the Unimed College Research Ethics Committee (REC) plays a strategic role, strengthening the network's credibility and scientific autonomy. The recent enactment of Law No. 14,874/2024 introduces significant innovations, such as defined deadlines for ethical review and the mandatory post-study access plans. This new legislation aims to modernize the regulatory framework, positioning Brazil more competitively in the international clinical trial landscape, but it requires regulation to preserve the ethical advances achieved over the last decades. Despite the operational challenges, this regulatory transition represents an opportunity for the country to consolidate its position as a reference in clinical research and the responsible incorporation of new technologies.
